Biden admin orders Afghan weapons info scrubbed from agency websites: Report

One of the many troubling aspects of the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan involves reports that the Taliban is now in possession of various American military weapons and other equipment.

According to Forbes, the Biden administration has directed federal agencies to remove details from its website regarding military equipment in Afghanistan.

“In the hands of the Taliban”

The report asserts that the Department of State wants information about nearly $83 billion in equipment and military training provided by the U.S. since 2001 to be taken down from federal agency sites.

Jenna Ellis, a legal adviser to former President Donald Trump, shared a tweet revealing the various weapons, vehicles, and equipment believed to now be in the possession of Taliban fighters.

Comparing that arsenal to the Biden administration’s push for gun control, Ellis concluded: “Your own government thinks you’re a greater threat than the actual Taliban.”

Of course, the White House contends that such reports are wildly inaccurate and that the equipment sent to Afghanistan does not represent what is actually available to the Taliban.

“If it poses a security risk”

Military leaders assert that the aircraft left at the airport in Kabul had been disabled before the troop withdrawal, but it is unclear exactly what type of equipment is in the hands of Taliban fighters today.

Even if a small percentage of the equipment shown in the graphic above is being used by the militant group, however, it could facilitate a massive military operation. After all, the 9/11 attacks were allegedly funded with roughly $500,000.

Taliban fighters were shown earlier this week in a parade that featured U.S. military vehicles and even some U.S. military attire.

As for the order to scrub information from agency websites, a State Department source explained: “The safety of our Afghan contacts is of utmost importance to us. The State Department advised other federal agencies of to [sic] review their web properties for content that highlights cooperation/participation between an Afghan citizen and the USG or a USG partner and remove from public view if it poses a security risk.”

President Joe Biden’s failures in Afghanistan extend beyond equipment, though. The loss of 13 U.S. service members in a terrorist bombing last week and the abandonment of hundreds of Americans in the war-torn country signify the human toll of his chaotic withdrawal.
