‘God help our country’: Meghan McCain sounds off on Biden’s botched Afghan withdrawal

Last year, conservative pundit Meghan McCain celebrated President Joe Biden’s victory over former President Donald Trump.

Amid the chaos created by a botched U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, however, the former co-host of The View is singing a different tune.

“I once thought I truly knew Joe Biden”

In a tweet on Tuesday, McCain wrote: “13 American soldiers are dead — most of them between the ages of 20-23 because they were put in [harm’s] way chaotically in the line of fire of a suicide bomber.”

She took exception to the president’s claim that “this couldn’t have been done in a more orderly manner,” describing the claim as patently false.

“This is extremely difficult for me to say: I once thought I truly knew Joe Biden and he helped me through pain and grief, for which I am grateful,” wrote the daughter of the late U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

Unfortunately, she said she could “not recognize” the man she knew as Biden in the speech he delivered to mark the end of the nearly two-decade U.S. occupation of Afghanistan.

“God help our country,” she added. “God help the Americans we have abandoned.”

“I am furious for my friends and family”

McCain also delivered an extended rant on Instagram in which she accused the White House of bringing “shame, dishonor and embarrassment” to America, predicting it “will take generations to undo” the damage.

“I am furious for my friends and family who have been fighting in these wars since I was 16 (many who have lost limbs, had their life terrorized by PTSD from their experiences in war and deployment, or worse),” she added.

McCain expressed similar dismay over “seeing our allies and innocent Afghan citizens who trusted us” and are now “left to be slaughtered or so desperate to escape the pure evil the Taliban will bring in that they are falling out of f***ing planes.”

Her latest remarks are a far cry from remarks prior to the November election such as that “it shouldn’t take a rocket scientist” to see that she was opposed to a second Trump term. At that point, she expressed hope that Biden would be a president “who can tamp down fear and anger instead of making it worse.”

It appears that even she is now beginning to recognize that Biden is not the president he promised to be.
