Report: InStyle magazine heaps praise on Obama as former president’s memoir sells millions

Along with his wife Michelle, former President Barack Obama enjoys a celebrity following like few politicians. To those outside his devoted fan base, however, Obama has always been a narcissist.

The former president’s pomposity was exposed yet again when he received a worshipful media profile from InStyle magazine, which features Obama smiling roguishly on the cover of its January issue, according to a PJ Media report.

Obama receives worshipful profile

Since leaving the White House, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have sold two best-selling memoirs apiece while netting movie production deals, solidifying their status as members of the liberal elite.

And there are few signs that the cult of Obama is dissipating anytime soon; the former president has embarked on a book tour for his latest tome, a 768-page affair called A Promised Land.

In one excerpt from the book that attracted attention, Obama confesses to having read left-wing authors like Karl Marx to attract women in his college class, including one particular “ethereal bisexual,” but “pseudo-intellectualism proved mostly worthless; I found myself in a series of affectionate but chaste friendships,” he wrote, according to Newsmax.

However, the lanky, pretentious undergraduate of Obama’s past is nowhere to be seen in the January issue of InStyle, which provides Obama with a magazine cover fit for the ego of the author.

The photo shows Obama leaning back, head cocked, with a smug smile. A preview of the interview sets a tone of oozing reverence to match. “The former president reflects on his childhood and what makes Michelle, Sasha, and Malia so badass,” the article reads.

Barack basks in praise

In his piece for PJ Media, Matt Margolis laces into Obama’s “cringeworthy” egotism:

Obama is by no means a humble person, but for some reason, the photographer, Shaniqwa Jarvis, chose to accentuate the narcissism, having Obama leaning back in a chair, legs crossed, and an awkward popped collar, all with a pompous smirk on his face, like he’s some millennial YouTube star, or he’s just passed gas.

The profile is just one part of a spectacle of shameless adulation.

As he promotes his book, Obama has been eager to share his profound thoughts on what ails America in podcasts and in the pages of the slightly more cerebral Atlantic magazine: Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, and social media companies that refuse to regulate “misinformation” and “hate speech.” In his book, he insinuates that roughly half the country is racist.

According to Fox News, Obama has also been yucking it up with late-night entertainers while basking in praise from The New York Times, which called him “as fine a writer as they come” whose “language is unafraid of its own unimaginative richness.” And they say Trump’s got an ego.
