Nuts & Bolts: Inside a Democratic campaign—staying aware of your opponent

Welcome back, Saturday Campaign D.I.Y.ers! For those who tune in, welcome to the Nuts & Bolts of a Democratic campaign. Each week we discuss issues that help drive successful campaigns. If you’ve missed prior diaries, please visit our group or follow Nuts & Bolts Guide.

This week on Nuts & Bolts we’re discussing keeping track of your opponent. Large campaigns frequently have staff who are specifically hired to do this, referred to as “trackers.” This series focuses on small campaigns, campaigns for state house or below, and generally, those campaigns can’t afford people to keep track of everything your opponent does. Still it’s important for your campaign to take some steps to at least know what is happening in your opponent’s campaign what they are saying about you and where they are going so you can be prepared and run a better campaign. So below the fold we’re going to start talking about how to keep track of your opponent.
