Fox News’ Juan Williams says he is ‘not great’ as he quarantines after COVID-19 infection

Fox News Channel personality and liberal columnist Juan Williams is in quarantine this week following a positive COVID-19 test, according to The New York Times.

The 66-year-old pundit confirmed he has opted to remain in isolation at a hotel and is said to be suffering from symptoms including headache and chills.

“Not dying or anything”

In an interview on Thursday, he told the Daily Beast that he is “not great” but “not dying or anything” as he struggles through the illness.

“I’m worried about myself and my family,” he confessed. “My wife doesn’t want me to come back to the house right now.”

Calling it “concerning” on many levels, Williams described the need to “guard against vagrant dark thoughts” as he faces an uncertain prognosis.

In addition to penning his own opinion column, he appears as a co-host of the panel show The Five, where he said producers preferred to keep on-air personalities together on set.

“It’s one of those things that they have wanted that show back together and some anchors are working from home but they wanted us back,” Williams explained.

“Adhering to all CDC and state guidelines”

For its part, Fox News claimed in a statement to the Daily Beast that it remains committed to upholding appropriate COVID-19 safety measures.

“Since the start of the pandemic, FOX News Media has implemented strict company-wide protocols adhering to all CDC and state guidelines, including regular testing of all in-studio on-air personalities, mask mandates, and daily health assessments for all employees entering the building,” the statement explained.

In response to Williams’ infection, the network vowed to “take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our staff, including broadcasting The Five via home studios for the foreseeable future.”

As The Hill noted, Williams taped a live, in-studio episode of the news program on Wednesday, where footage indicated co-hosts were seated approximately seven feet apart from one another.

The COVID-19 pandemic was a subject the hosts covered on that program, including a discussion of elected officials caught engaging in behaviors they had deemed off-limits for their constituents amid a spike in new infections.
