Hunter Biden falls under scrutiny over his firm’s involvement in sale of lucrative cobalt mine to China

A startling new report has emerged concerning Hunter Biden’s involvement with a Chinese company. But as Fox News recently noted, it seems most other television networks aren’t interested in talking about it.

An article published in The New York Times last week detailed how an investment firm that the president’s son helped to found assisted a Chinese company with buying “one of the world’s richest cobalt mines.”

Located in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the mine was mostly owned by an American firm known as Freeport-McMoRan before a massive chunk of it was purchased by China Molybdenum.

“Zero coverage”

According to the Department of Energy, cobalt is one of the key minerals used in the production of batteries for power tools and other electronic equipment.

In its report, the Times said Hunter Biden’s role in the purchase of the lucrative cobalt mine “has taken on new relevance because the Biden administration warned this year that China might use its growing dominance of cobalt to disrupt America’s retooling of its auto industry to make electric vehicles.”

The White House has insisted that President Joe Biden has no knowledge of his son’s activities regarding the deal, as the Times notes.

But despite there being a serious potential for conflict of interest, Fox reports that the story “received zero coverage on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC, according to transcripts.”

It’s nothing new

Such a lack of interest regarding Hunter Biden and his business interests is not exactly new; most mainstream media outlets took a similar approach during last year’s presidential campaign season.

As a prime example, there was very little coverage of the apparently incriminating contents of a laptop that the now-president’s son left at a Delaware computer store.

The development was first covered by the New York Post. But it was quickly quashed as social media companies including Twitter went so far as to block individuals from sharing the story.

GOP Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas blasted Twitter’s CEO over the move. “Mr. [Jack] Dorsey, who the hell elected you and put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report and what the American people are allowed to hear, and why do you persist in behaving as a Democratic super PAC silencing views to the contrary of your political beliefs?” the senator said at the time, according to Fox.

What ever happened to accountability?
