Conservative pundit and author Ann Coulter revealed her preferred source of cable news content, revealing in a recent podcast interview that it is not the Fox News Channel.
“I don’t watch Fox News,” she told the Daily Caller’s Derek Hunter. “I read my own Twitter feed so I know what they’re going to be saying two days in advance.”
“Uttered by not very smart people”
Coulter went on to advise that viewers of the leading news network could “save a lot of time just following a few of the right people on Twitter, where all of the show prep takes place at Fox News — watered down and then uttered by not very smart people.”
Though she snubbed Fox News, she said she sometimes watches MSNBC for the “entertainment value,” citing hosts Rachel Maddow and Joy Reid specifically.
Coulter’s latest remarks come days after she posted a series of tweets excoriating President Donald Trump over his opposition to former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, a Republican campaigning to once again represent Alabama in the U.S. Senate.
Early Sunday morning, Coulter reacted to a tweet in which the president accused Sessions of having “let our Country down” by refusing himself from the investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Trump went on to endorse Sessions’ Republican opponent, Tommy Tuberville.
“Sessions HAD to recuse himself, you complete blithering idiot,” Coulter responded. “YOU did not have to go on Lester Holt’s show and announce you fired Comey over the Russian investigation. That’s what got you a Special Prosecutor.”
“Deeply sorry”
In subsequent tweets, she attacked Trump’s record on immigration and the border, sprinkling in some choice insults along the way.
“Trump didn’t build the wall and never had any intention of doing so,” Coulter wrote, calling Sessions the “ONE PERSON in the Trump administration who did anything about immigration.”
She concluded with an apology, stating that she was “deeply sorry for thinking that this shallow and broken man would show even some remote fealty to the promises that got him elected.”
Coulter’s current take on the president represents a dramatic reversal from her previous public support, most notably in her 2016 book, In Trump We Trust.
With Election Day rapidly approaching, it remains to be seen if other one-time allies have similarly soured on the president or if Coulter’s about-face is an anomaly.
