‘There is a double standard’: Eric Trump slams DOJ pick over ties to Hunter Biden

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, has come under increasing scrutiny over potentially improper foreign business dealings. The controversy culminated last month with the younger Biden’s admission that his “tax affairs” were the subject of a federal investigation.

Now, one of former President Donald Trump’s sons is adding to the backlash in the wake of new reports that a Biden administration appointee to the Department of Justice has a loose connection to Hunter Biden.

“Unequal justice in this country”

Eric Trump’s denunciation of the ordeal came during a Fox News Channel interview on Tuesday evening.

He told host Sean Hannity that he and his siblings received much harsher treatment during his father’s term in the White House.

“We’ve talked about this a million times,” Trump said. “The things that get said about me and Don [Jr.] and Ivanka and Tiffany and Barron and our whole family, there is a double standard in this country.”

Going on to decry the perceived “unequal justice in this country,” he referenced reports that Nicholas McQuaid accepted a position in the Justice Department after having been a partner at a New York law firm where Hunter Biden’s attorney was also a partner.

“Can you imagine if my father ever tried to do that?” Trump asked. “There is unequal balance of justice in this country, and half of America sees it, and it’s quite frankly disturbing to them.”

“People are going to miss Donald Trump”

More broadly, Trump has deemed Biden’s first two weeks in the White House as a complete disaster that has “cost thousands of jobs,” particularly with the cancellation of a permit for the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

Biden also signed an executive order to restore America’s involvement in the Paris Climate Accord, prompting Trump to ask if U.S. taxpayers are “going to start paying for all the environmental problems” in nations like China and India.

“You go down the list and honestly, I think people are going to miss Donald Trump really quickly,” he concluded. “I think they will miss him really quickly because some of these executive orders, 40 in the first day, are madness.”

Eric Trump is not the first of his siblings to publicly address the controversy surrounding Hunter Biden.

Donald Trump Jr. asserted in October that the “Biden family has spent decades in Washington, DC enriching themselves by selling access to Joe Biden’s taxpayer funded office.”
