Trump rally crowd heckles Fox News reporter: ‘Fake news!’

Ever since the election, President Donald Trump and many in his base have turned against Fox News, all but accusing the network of betraying its viewers with its coverage, or lack thereof, of voter fraud.

At a Trump rally in Georgia on Saturday, a crowd of Trump supporters made their anger felt as they heckled a Fox News reporter with cries of “fake news,” the Washington Examiner reported.

Crowd turns on Fox News

Video of the incident, from Valdosta, Georgia, shows Trump supporters expressing the kind of derision towards Fox News that Trump and his base have customarily aimed at CNN, crying “traitors” and “we trusted you.”

In addition to its lack of voter fraud coverage, many Trump supporters are upset that Fox News declared Democratic nominee Joe Biden the winner in Arizona early on election night.

Video shared by Sky News shows a man slamming Fox News for calling the election for Biden, echoing a point made by many Trump allies about news outlets presuming to declare the winner. “Fox News does not call the election,” the man shouts. “Nobody here does.”

A woman is also heard shouting, “Why? Why did y’all turn on everybody?” In a separate clip, Trump supporters chant “Fox is Fake News,” in a riff on the “CNN sucks” chant that has long been a staple at Trump rallies.

“Virtually unwatchable”

This comes as Trump has been encouraging his supporters to migrate from the “virtually unwatchable” Fox News to other right-leaning outlets, such as Newsmax and One America News.

“@FoxNews daytime is virtually unwatchable, especially during the weekends,” Trump tweeted recently. “Watch @OANN, @newsmax, or almost anything else. You won’t have to suffer through endless interviews with Democrats, and even worse!”

Trump has similarly accused Georgia’s Republican officials of rushing to certify Biden as the state’s winner, without following through on voter fraud claims. Biden was declared the winner in Georgia by a close margin, but Trump and his allies claim the election was rigged.

Trump was in Georgia on Saturday to help Republicans maintain control of the Senate, which will be decided by a pair of runoff contests in January.

“Your governor could stop it very easily if he knew what the hell he was doing. He could stop it very easily,” Trump said, to chants of “stop the steal.”
