Fox News host Sean Hannity stunned his viewers Thursday with footage that lends credence to President Donald Trump’s claims about voter fraud in this year’s elections.
The conservative talk show host played what Fox News described as “suspicious” surveillance video of poll workers in Georgia appearing to pull out suitcases that, according to Hannity, were believed to have been “filled with ballots.”
“Worthy of a criminal investigation”
The footage was first shared Thursday at a hearing on voter fraud in Georgia led by President Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani. Fellow lawyer Jacki Pick walked the court through the video, citing witness testimony along the way, as CBS 46 News in Atlanta reported.
The video purports to show Republican observers being shooed out of the State Farm Center in Fulton County on election night. Once the coast was clear, a handful of election workers left behind reportedly started pulling boxes and suitcases out from underneath a table.
“The same person that stayed behind, the person that cleared the place out under the pretense that we are going to stop counting, is the person who put the table there at 8:22 in the morning. I saw four suitcases come out from underneath the table,” Pick said, according to CBS 46. Take a look for yourself:
Speaking Thursday, Hannity said that the video warrants investigation. “Why were the suitcases hidden under the table?” he asked on his Fox show. “At the very least, you think that would be worthy of a criminal investigation.”
Georgia: Nothing to see here
Despite appearances, Georgia election officials and a host of “fact-checkers” have said that there is nothing unusual about what the video depicts.
“What the video shows is that they have pulled out plastic bins from underneath the desks,” Fulton County elections director Rick Barron said, according to GPB News. “It was normal processing that occurred there, as Gabe Sterling from the state explained this morning.”
President Trump has claimed that Democrats stole the election for Joe Biden in a number of closely contested states. Biden was certified the winner of Georgia by a small margin after a recount was completed that turned up previously uncounted ballots, cutting down his lead. A second recount completed Friday was expected to shrink Biden’s margin further to fewer than 12,000 votes, according to reports.
With questions still unanswered, the president has slammed Georgia’s Republican leaders, such as Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, saying they haven’t done enough to investigate voter fraud in the Peach State.
In the meantime, Trump is refusing to concede defeat to Biden as his campaign continues to press legal challenges to the results.
