President Trump confirms he’ll run again in 2024 if Biden is inaugurated

Rumors that President Donald Trump will run for president again in 2024, should Joe Biden ultimately be declared the winner of the 2020 election, appear to no longer be just rumors.

The Associated Press reports that President Trump, himself, recently “teased running again for president in 2024” during a recent White House event.

Straight from the horse’s mouth

President Trump made the statement on Tuesday evening during a holiday reception that was held at the White House. The president’s remarks were live-streamed on Facebook.

“It’s been an amazing four years,” Trump said. “We’re trying to do another four years. Otherwise, I’ll see you in four years.”

President Trump has still not conceded the 2020 election. He continues to try to legally contest a number of controversial election results in key states.

“It’s certainly an unusual year. We won an election. But they don’t like that,” the president said on Tuesday. “I call it a rigged election, and I always will.”

Former acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney was one of the first to opine that President Trump would look to run for president again in 2024 should he lose in 2020.

“He doesn’t like losing,” Mulvaney said, referring to President Trump. “There’s actually a non-zero chance that Donald Trump runs again in 2024 and Joe Biden does not … simply because of his age.”

He’s already the 2024 favorite

Since Election Day, a number of polls have been conducted which show that, currently, President Trump would be Republican voters’ favored presidential candidate for 2024.

One poll was conducted between November 21st and 23rd by McLaughlin Associates for Newsmax. Surveying 1,000 likely general election voters, the pollster found that, among 14 candidates, President Trump was easily favored, by some 33 percentage points, to be the Republican nominee in 2024.

Similar results were found in a poll conducted during the same period by the Morning Consult. 53 percent of 1,990 registered voters favored President Trump to take the Republican nomination in 2024. Behind President Trump was Vice President Mike Pence at 12 percent.

The 2020 presidential election is still not over. The president and his legal team have just filed major lawsuits that could have a large impact on the election results. But, the good news for Trump supporters is that, if the president does go on to lose, it looks like there is a good chance that he’ll be back in four years.
