Dan Bongino revealed earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with a type of blood cancer known as Hodgkin lymphoma, the Washington Examiner reported — but after several months, the firebrand conservative commentator announced last week that things are finally looking up for him.
“I get your emails, I read all of your social media posts, and, really, it’s been heartwarming,” Bongino told supporters on Friday’s episode of Fox & Friends, according to the Washington Examiner. “I will be A-OK though. I promise you. My prognosis is really good,” he added.
Bongino is reportedly set to begin his final round of chemotherapy this coming week.
“It’s been tough. I’m tired. The chemo’s rough. You got to get through it with a bit of a sense of humor, though,” the Fox News contributor said Friday, as the Examiner reported.
A positive outlook
Despite his diagnosis, Bongino promised Friday to keep up his busy routine and his stringent workout schedule. Still, he joked that he’d give his chemotherapy treatments “zero stars on Amazon,” if given the chance to review them.
“I don’t recommend it,” he said, though he acknowledged that the treatment “works.”
“I’ve got my next and hopefully last treatment this coming Tuesday, so I should be back to full force,” Bongino said Friday.
The former Secret Service agent first announced in September that a tumor had been discovered on his neck. In October, surgery revealed that the tumor was cancerous, as Newsmax reported. “The good news is, there are [treatment] options,” Bongino said at the time. “Either way, it’ll be [OK]. Thank you all for your support.”
“Don’t waste a minute”
According to the Examiner, Bongino gave a shout-out Friday to someone who understands his pain: conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh, who was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year. “God bless [Rush] and his struggle, too, and everyone out there struggling with this really awful disease. It stinks,” Bongino said on Fox & Friends. “Two thumbs down, big time.”
Later in the conversation, the Fox contributor reiterated that he is “A-OK.”
“I feel great, so everyone in the audience, don’t waste a minute worrying about me,” Bongino said. “I’m A-OK.” Take a look:
