When the left goes after President Donald Trump, they aren’t sending their best.
Republican lawmakers received Christmas cards from a pornography magazine depicting Donald Trump getting assassinated, the Washington Examiner reported Thursday. The cards, which prompted at least one Republican to call for a Secret Service investigation, came from the 1970s-era Hustler magazine, whose founder, Larry Flynt, is an avowed Trump hater.
A gruesome greeting
The front of the card depicts a man with a smoking pistol and a speech bubble that reads, “I just shot Donald Trump on Fifth Avenue, and no one arrested me,” a play on Trump’s famous comment that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and retain support. The inside of the card shows people cheering over Trump’s bleeding corpse, according to The Washington Times.
“Merry Christmas!” the card reads, “from all of us at Hustler.”
According to Politico, multiple Republican lawmakers received the card, including Rep. Mike Johnson (LA), who tweeted images of the card Thursday and called for a Secret Service probe.

Leftist fantasies
For its part, Hustler has confirmed that the card indeed came from its ranks, though it has hesitated to comment further. “The card was sent by HUSTLER and was our official holiday card of 2019,” the magazine told a Politico reporter, according to the Examiner.
But to many, the gruesome greeting crossed a line. Even Mark Zaid, the anti-Trump lawyer for the still-unnamed Ukraine whistleblower, criticized the card in a tweet on Thursday.
“This is unacceptable, and clearly I’m no fan of this [p]resident,” Zaid wrote. “But this absolutely crosses the line and there should be a public apology. Something like this is not a joking matter.”
Hustler reached a peak circulation of more than 3 million, but today, it has a dwindling 100,000 subscribers, according to CBS News. The magazine’s owner, Larry Flynt, once put an ad in The Washington Post promising $10 million for information leading to Trump’s impeachment and removal from office, the New York Post noted.
Meanwhile, Trump’s assassination has been a distinct preoccupation since his rise to the office among liberal celebrities and artists in places like New York.
A Central Park staging of Julius Caesar not long after Trump’s inauguration depicted Trump as the Roman dictator, according to Fox, and comedian Kathy Griffin elicited backlash with an infamous photo depicting her holding Trump’s bloodied, decapitated head in spring 2017, according to a report from the Baltimore Sun — just two of a plethora of examples of this absurd behavior.
