President Donald Trump has maintained that the results of the 2020 presidential election were tainted by voter fraud, and the battle to prove it rages on in courts across America. But in the event that Trump’s legal challenges to this year’s results don’t pull through, rumors are already swirling that he’d mount another bid for the White House in 2024 — and dismissing him now would be a fatal mistake.
Still, that’s exactly what Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s running mate and the media-declared vice president-elect, did on Saturday. According to Bloomberg News, the California Democrat “scoffed” at the idea of facing Trump again in four short years.
Harris discounts Trump rematch
The dismissive attitude from Harris came during a Saturday appearance at a holiday market in downtown Washington with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. There, Harris was asked for her thoughts on Trump’s rumored plans for another White House campaign.
With a dismissive wave of her hand, Harris laughed the question off. “Please,” she said, according to Bloomberg.

Trump 2024?
Citing anonymous sources, Bloomberg previously reported that Trump had floated the idea of a 2024 run during a meeting at the White House a few weeks back with Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien.
Bloomberg’s sources claimed that O’Brien was the only one of the three to openly express his support for another run at the White House by Trump, while Pence and Pompeo, both rumored to be considering their own presidential bids in the next election, remained silent.
Bloomberg’s anonymous reporting echoed claims made earlier by the Daily Beast, which alleged, also citing unnamed sources, that Trump could launch his bid for a 2024 rematch as soon as Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, 2021.
According to the Daily Beast, Trump “and some of his closest associates have already started surveying prominent donors to get a sense of who would be with him, or perhaps against him, if he chose to run in the 2024 election.” And they may find reason for optimism on that front: according to Forbes, recent polling shows that President Trump still holds more support than any other potential 2024 contender among Republican voters, with Pence running a distant second.
The fight rages on
Of course, all of this speculation is contingent on Trump losing his legal challenges to the election results, which are ongoing in states like Pennsylvania, according to the New York Post.
The president says he hopes the cases will make their way up to the Supreme Court, but he has conceded that it’s an uphill battle.
“I probably can’t get a case [to the Supreme Court] … and we have tremendous proof,” Trump said in an interview Sunday, according to the Post. “We have hundreds and hundreds of affidavits, sworn affidavits. And it’s very hard to get a case to the Supreme Court. That’s what everybody is fighting for.”
