Waukesha parade massacre made possible by DA’s bail reform policies

The Waukesha, Wisconsin, parade massacre that killed six people and injured dozens of others was reportedly conducted by a man released under the district attorney’s radical bail reform policies, according to a new report.

Darrell Brooks, the man apprehended at the incident, was released on $1,000 bail just days earlier, even though he allegedly threatened to run over others and had a history of multiple crimes.

“Earlier this month, a Milwaukee court let #DarrellBrooks out on $1,000 bail after he allegedly ran a woman over with the same SUV believed to have been used in the #WaukeshaParade attack. That’s despite an active warrant in Nevada and a long, violent criminal past,” Michael Ruiz tweeted.

The Tragedy

“5 people have died and more than 40 are injured after an SUV ploughed through a holiday parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, according to city officials,” CNN initially reported.

A sixth victim later reportedly died.

Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson said an officer fired shots at the vehicle in an attempt to stop the driver.

The Coverage

Another video on social media appeared to show police firing on the vehicle as it crashed through street barriers, according to Reuters.

Classes in area schools were closed for Monday.

Many continue to grieve in Wisconsin as the community seeks answers regarding the tragic events.
