Suspect in parade attack released days earlier by progressive prosecutor: Reports

Americans were horrified this week when a man drove his vehicle through a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, leaving six people dead and many more injured.

Since then, new information has surfaced about the suspect, Darrell Brook, who has a long criminal history and was out on bail thanks to Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisholm.

“It does not invalidate the overall approach”

As columnist Kelly Sadler wrote for the Washington Times, Chisholm — along with numerous other prosecutors across the United States — has received support from leftist billionaire George Soros.

She argued that the district attorney had been advancing a Soros-backed effort that includes “abolishing bail for hardened criminals” when he allowed for Brooks to be released from jail last week on $1,000 bail. He faced charges including battery, domestic abuse, and reckless endangerment in that case.

Brooks, who is a registered sex offender in Nevada, was also charged last year with reckless endangerment and being a felon in possession of a gun.

As far back as 2007, Chisholm appeared to acknowledge the inherent risks associated with his lenient approach to prosecuting violent criminals.

“Is there going to be an individual I divert or put into treatment program who is going to go out and kill somebody?” he asked at the time. “You bet. Guaranteed. It’s going to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.”

“No major donor on the Republican side”

Of course, the prosecutor’s stance is hardly unique. Cities including San Francisco, California, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have seen a recent spike in crime as Soros-funded district attorneys oversee prosecutions.

As Kelly explained, Soros has spent millions to influence such elections over the past several years.

“All of his candidates support reducing the prison population and directing criminals to diversion/rehabilitation programs outside of the criminal justice system,” she added.

The effort to elect progressive prosecutors has been successful in part because “there’s no major donor on the Republican side to counter his massive local cash infusions,” Kelly noted.

Nevertheless, she concluded that many Americans are “beginning to feel this ‘woke’ criminal justice reform in the form of rising crime rates in their communities,” predicting that “Soros is going to have a much tougher battle on his hands” ahead of upcoming elections.
