Staunch mask proponent Dr. Fauci spotted maskless at indoor book party in D.C.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, whose words on COVID-19 mitigation measures are essentially heralded as gospel by the left, has proven by deed that he is a hypocrite of the highest order.

The chief medical adviser to the president and longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) was recently spotted maskless at an indoor book signing party in Washington D.C. — where masks are still required for all when gathered indoors, Fox News reported.

That is important because Fauci has long been an outspoken proponent of mask mandates for everyone, whether that requirement is imposed by state or local governments, or even school districts.

Selective masking

It was Politico’s Playbook that first reported Dr. Fauci being seen maskless while in attendance at a party for the new anti-Trump book authored by ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl.

That particular party, where proof of vaccination was required, was reportedly attended by a number of media and political elitists at Washington D.C.’s posh Cafe Milano restaurant.

The Playbook noted that Fauci was spotted putting his mask on and taking it back off depending upon who was around him at the time, something he was actually confronted about by novelist Sally Quinn, who had actually used Fauci as the inspiration for a character in one of her erotic novels.

“I said, ‘You seem pretty ambivalent about your mask’ because no one else was wearing one,” the novelist told the outlet. “He said, ‘I just decided that if anyone came up that I didn’t know, I would put my mask on.'”

Quinn further noted that there were a number of paparazzi in attendance with cameras who were trying to capture the maskless Fauci on film for a “gotcha moment.” She nonetheless defended him as “being safe” in that he only removed his mask around people he knew and trusted, and put the mask back on when around other people with which he was not familiar.

Those excuses, according to many observers, do not pass muster, given Fauci’s prior insistence that everybody wear masks for protection, whether fully vaccinated or not, as well as the fact that an indoor mask mandate for all remains in place for the time being in Washington D.C., though Fox noted that the mandate will reportedly be lifted in the near future.

He’s not alone

For what it is worth, The Daily Caller reported that Dr. Fauci is not alone in hypocritically violating the D.C. indoor mask mandate that is otherwise fully promoted and supported in public comments.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D), who imposed the mandate herself, was caught violating the policy in August, and just this week both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and close ally Rep. Yvette Clark (D-NY), were both seen maskless in a D.C. bar.

In addition, the mask-mandater-in-chief, President Joe Biden, accompanied by first lady Jill Biden, were both spotted maskless while walking through a D.C. restaurant in October.
