She’s a ‘crazy woman’: Rep. Waters bashes Rep. Greene over awarding Rittenhouse

The Kyle Rittenhouse verdict has proven to be one of the hottest and most divisive political topics, at least in the House, as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) recently introduced legislation that would award the Illinois teenager with the Congressional Gold Medal.

According to the Washington Examiner, the idea of that happening isn’t sitting well with most Dems in the lower chamber, including Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who recently described her colleague, Greene, as a “crazy woman” for even suggesting any award for Rittenhouse, who Dems are still labeling as a white supremacist murderer.

Rittenhouse was cleared of all charges earlier this month after a trial that clearly convinced the jury that the young man acted in self-defense when he shot and killed two rioters in Kenosha, Wisconsin last year, and injured a third.

What did Waters say?

It was during an interview Sunday on MSNBC that Waters revealed her feelings about the possibility of awarding Rittenhouse the highest civilian award Congress is able to bestow on an American citizen.

Waters tore into Greene, saying that even the suggestion of giving Rittenhouse any recognition was out of bounds, and she also dialed in on the multiple offers Rittenhouse has received from various GOP lawmakers to become a congressional intern.

“She has no respect for anything or anybody, the Constitution, the Congress of the United States,” Waters said of Greene.

The triggered California Democrat added: “So we can expect anything from this crazy woman.”

Waters, who has a long history of making inflammatory remarks and outright calls for violence in the streets, slammed both Greene and Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) for contributing to what she said was a hostile environment at the U.S. Capitol.

Not likely to pass

Waters, who was clearly attempting to spark anger amongst MSNBC’s viewers, understands good and well that Greene’s legislation that would award Rittenhouse is essentially already dead in the water.

That’s because to issue such an award, two-thirds of both the House and the Senate would need to be on board, and with Democrats retaining control of both chambers, not to mention the political blowback from their base if they even entertained the idea, there’s virtually no chance of it happening.

Other Dems, such as House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (NY), have gone as far as suggesting that President Joe Biden’s DOJ should take civil action against Rittenhouse in the wake of his not guilty verdict, as The Independent noted.

Though Rittenhouse will likely not be granted the high-level, congressional award, it’s still entertaining to see Dems like Waters overreact and lose their minds over something not likely to happen.
