Judicial Watch’s Fitton goes after Danchenko following indictment: He’s ‘Hillary’s guy’

In the spring of 2019, USA Today reported that then-Attorney General Bill Barr had appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to begin an inquiry into the origins of the infamous probe into later disproven claims of Trump–Russia collusion.

Although little was heard from Durham over the following two years, the investigator’s silence was broken in September when a grand jury indicted Clinton-connected attorney Michael Sussmann. According to one activist, another indictment of an individual with ties to the former secretary of state serves to confirm the Trump–Russia collusion narrative was always nothing but a hoax.

Tom Fitton serves as president of the group Judicial Watch, and in a video posted to Facebook on Wednesday, he spoke about Durham’s decision to indict Igor Danchenko, who is facing five charges related to lying to the FBI, according to reports.

“Hillary’s guy”

In the Facebook clip, Fitton began by reporting that Danchenko is “a foreign national, he’s a Russian, he lives here in the United States and he was arrested the other day.”

Danchenko, Fitton claimed, “was arrested for lying to the FBI about the nature of the work and who he was talking to and how he came about information that was used in the Steele dossier to smear [former President Donald] Trump.”

According to Fox News, Danchenko was taken into custody last week and brought before federal Judge Theresa Buchanan, who scheduled his next court appearance for Wednesday.

Danchenko reportedly pleaded not guilty.

“Danchenko is Hillary’s guy,” Fitton said in the video. “How is he Hillary’s guy? He worked for Christopher Steele and helped create the so-called dossier.”

The indictment proves it

Fitton then held up a copy of Danchenko’s indictment, claiming the document “goes through quite deliberately how Danchenko would get a snippet of information and muck it up.”

“For instance, his key contact, of course, was a Hillary Clinton supporter, a volunteer on her campaign [who] previously had been an official member of her earlier campaigns, and he also worked for the Russians,” Fitton pointed out.

“He went to Moscow with this Clinton buddy — crony, and they went and visited the Moscow hotel,” the Judicial Watch chief noted in the Facebook clip. “And they learned that Donald Trump had once visited that hotel. So what Danchenko did was he took that factoid and added the salacious sex allegations, falsely attaching it to that factoid.”

In his eyes, the indictment exposes what many on the right have suspected all along: “It was a lie,” Fitton declared. “You’ve got official confirmation through this indictment at least, it’s the official position of the United States government, that the dossier is a big lie.” Finally, it looks like accountability may be on the horizon.
