Dr. Fauci hopes to vaccinate babies and toddlers against the coronavirus

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Biden administration’s chief medical expert, is pushing for coronavirus vaccines for babies, Breitbart reports

It was bad enough when the Biden administration pushed the vaccine on five-to-eleven-year-olds, an age group that the numbers have shown has virtually nothing to fear from the coronavirus. But, now, babies?

Fauci: “Hopefully”

Fauci talked about vaccinating babies against the coronavirus during a recent interview with Insider.

“Hopefully within a reasonably short period of time, likely the beginning of next year in 2022, in the first quarter of 2022, it will be available to them,” Fauci said.

He added, however, “can’t guarantee it, you’ve got to do the clinical trial.”

It’s already in the works

Just as Pfizer was the company that led the way for vaccinating children in the five to eleven age group, Insider reports that it is likely to be the first company to get authorization for its coronavirus vaccine to be used on babies and toddlers, and this is because, according to the outlet, the pediatric trials of the vaccine are already happening.

Insider goes on to note that Pfizer has not submitted any data from its trials to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yet, which would seem to suggest that the company is still some way from getting authorization for the use of its vaccines on babies and toddlers. How far away this authorization is, though, remains unclear.

ABC News published a report in October that suggested that Pfizer could ask the FDA for authorization for the 6 months to 5 years age group by the end of this month. We’ll see.

Background

This all comes after Pfizer just recently got authorization for its coronavirus vaccine for the five to eleven age group.

The Biden administration, since then, has been leading a campaign with the goal of getting as many children as possible in this age group vaccinated.

“Parents of children ages 5 and over: Please get them vaccinated,” President Joe Biden said earlier this month. “Because here’s the deal. Children make up one-quarter of the cases in this country and while rare, children can get very sick from COVID-19 and some can end up, few can end up hospitalized.”

Many, however, don’t understand why they ought to subject their children to risks from the coronavirus vaccine when there seem to be no risks to them from the coronavirus: The percentage of children who died after contracting the coronavirus, here in the U.S., is between 0.00 and 0.03 percent. The Biden administration has not offered a good response to this objection.
