Biden nominee was caught stealing luxury goods at a TJ Maxx

Fox News reported this week that one of President Joe Biden’s executive branch nominees once faced allegations of theft.

The information came to light on Wednesday when the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) tweeted out a 1995 Madison, Wisconsin police report concerning Saule Omarova.

Omarova, who has been nominated to head the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, was accused of $214 worth of merchandise from a T.J. Maxx outlet.

The police report states that a security guard claimed to have seen Omarova hiding items inside of a large purse and then attempted to leave the store without paying.

Democratic spokesperson says complaints about arrest are part of a “smear campaign”

He asserted that after being confronted, Omarova “immediately requested the opportunity to pay for the items.” An officer is then said to have read the woman her rights, after which she “admitted to have stolen the items.”

“It should be noted that I advised Omarova she was under arrest prior to having read her rights,” the arresting officer stated in his report.

In its tweet, AAF complained that “Omarova has no respect for our laws, system of government, or our economy. But Biden wants to put her in charge of American banks.”

A spokesperson for Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown defended Omarova, telling Fox News that she has “been the subject of a relentless smear campaign.”

“Since this historic and eminently qualified nominee was put forth by President Biden, she has been the subject of a relentless smear campaign,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying. “The incident took place several decades ago, and the case against Ms. Omarova was dismissed.”

Nominee allegedly belonged to a pro-Marxist Facebook group

Omarova has already been a focus of controversy for her pronounced left-wing views. Fox Business reported last month that she apparently belonged to a Facebook group called “Marxist Analysis and Policy.”

Its description states, “This Marxist group is a platform for analysis, policy (sic) and polemics from the perspectives of a diverse range of Socialist and anti-capitalist views.”

“We are against exploitation, inequality, racial (sic) discrimination and ecological destruction at the core of Capitalist social relations,” it adds.
