Body believed to be missing Florida college student, Miya Marcano, discovered

It appears that the search for a missing Florida college student has come to a tragic end.

According to Fox Newsauthorities now believe that they have located the body of 19-year-old Miya Marcano.

The search is over

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) announced its finding on Saturday, the Washington Examiner reported.

“A body believed to be Miya Marcano has been discovered,” Sheriff John Mina said.

According to Mina, an “emergency response team was searching the area of Tymber Skan apartments off of South Texas Avenue in Orange County, and that’s when they discovered a body” that is believed to be Marcano. The OSCU said its “very certain of the identity” of the body.

Detectives reportedly notified Marcano’s parents of the discovery, and they released a statement publicly offering their condolences to Marcano’s loved ones.

“Sheriff John Mina and the men and women of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office extend our deepest condolences to Miya’s family, friends, and loved ones,” the OCSO statement reads.

Background

Authorities found Marcano’s body after a weeks-long search that included help from agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The “prime suspect” in Marcano’s disappearance is Armando Caballero, a maintenance worker at the apartment complex where Marcano lived and worked. Marcano disappeared on the same day that Caballero broke the rules by using a master key to enter her apartment. Authorities have also discovered that Caballero had previously made a number of attempts to get involved with Marcano romantically, but Marcano reportedly rejected his advances.

At the time of Marcano’s disappearance, Caballero, too, went missing. Initially, authorities didn’t have enough evidence to arrest him. However, after learning of his illegal entering of her apartment on the day of her disappearance, authorities issued an arrest warrant.

It was roughly three days later, after both Marcano’s and Caballero’s disappearances, that authorities found Caballero’s body, who apparently committed suicide. The OCSO indicated that they don’t believe that anyone else was involved in Caballero’s death.

It appears that this case is heading towards a horrific and tragic close given that the bodies of both Marcano and Caballero have been found.
