President Joe Biden visited an elementary school Monday, where he joked about his strategy about avoiding the media and said he was “run” by the wife of New Jersey’s governor.
When the students asked about what it is like to be president, he offered some interesting words that sounded more like reality than a joke.
“You know, when you’re president, see all these people here? They’re with you all the time,” Biden said.
“They get to ask you all kinds of questions and you try to figure out how you can avoid answering them sometimes.”

Biden also made a reference to New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, whose reelection campaign the president came to support.
“You see this man, here? He’s the governor of this state. He runs the state. And this is his wife, who runs him and me and everybody else,” Biden told the children.
Kind of True
While Biden was clearly joking around with the kids, his words sound very close to his current practice. The president has been criticized throughout his presidency for avoiding the media and refusing to take questions.

“President Joe Biden refused to answer questions from reporters on Wednesday following remarks that he gave about supply chain shortages that are causing widespread problem,” following a message about the supply chain crisis on Oct. 13.
The White House just claimed Biden takes questions “all the time.”

Run by Others?
The reference to being “run” by the First Lady of New Jersey added to the oddness of the event. However, many have noted Biden seems to not be calling the shots, but is instead told what to do by others.
The practice has been seen in videos where Biden has asked what he was supposed to do next or has revealed he has scripted questions and answers from certain reporters.
The classroom scene offered an attempt at humor that revealed a bit of truth about what may be happening behind the scenes of the Biden administration.
