Trump blasts GOP establishment, including McConnell, in new interview

Former President Donald Trump just dropped some more truth bombs on D.C. politicians.

In a new two-hour-long interview, Trump, besides going after the GOP establishment, argues that the “only reason” that the Republican Party still exists is because of just how bad the Democrats’ policies are.

“The Democrats have horrible policy,” Trump said. “They’re mean, they’re vicious, but they have horrible policy. And that’s the only reason you have a Republican Party.”

Giving what we have seen from the Republican Party for decades now, Trump is probably right on this one.

Trump highlights a key difference between the GOP and Dems

Democrats and even some Republicans like to harp on Trump’s vices to the point at which many forget that he does have virtues. And, one of Trump’s greatest virtues is exposing establishment politicians for what they really are.

During the interview, after he spent some time slamming President Joe Biden for the disaster he has created in the Middle East, Trump focused in on some of these establishment Republicans, and he wasn’t afraid to name names. Among the targets were Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

“And unlike the Republicans, they [the Democrats] stick together, although we have some great Republicans,” Trump said. “But we also have a group of Republicans, Romney, little Ben Sasse, you look at Louisiana that whole deal with him—so terrible. We have a group of Republicans, they don’t know what loyalty means. They don’t get it. Mitch McConnell is terrible.”

Trump went on to criticize Graham for approving “horrible judges” to the federal courts, and he accused McConnell of having an inability to “hold people in line.”

Trump also said that McConnell got “duped” and “outplayed” with regard to the Democrats’ infrastructure legislation, which 19 Republicans, including McConnell, signed their names to.

“And they made it much easier for the $3.5 trillion dollar bill, which is really $5 trillion,” Trump said. “They got duped into doing it. Mitch McConnell got out-played, as usual. The 19 people, some of them I know very well and are very good people, but they got duped into doing it.”

“some bad people”

This all came from only a segment of the two-hour-long interview. Trump concluded the segment by saying that he has “a great relationship with the Republican Party but there are some bad people in the Republican Party that don’t stick together like the Democrats do and they hurt us.”

These are refreshing words from the former President, as usual.
