Over the last several months, former President Donald Trump has been dropping hints that he may end up making another run for the White House in 2024. But if one of his former associates is to be believed, the former president may be facing an indictment long before he can launch any campaign.
Mediaite reports that former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone said in a recent interview with InfoWars founder Alex Jones that Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. may soon hand down “a fabricated indictment for bank fraud or tax fraud” against the 45th president.
Stone’s prediction hasn’t been corroborated. But as Mediaite notes, that didn’t stop the former Trump campaign aide from insisting that he’ll soon break “a number of stories” on his podcast that will “establish that [Vance’s probe into Trump] is a partisan witch hunt.”
“Fight on”
Vance, for his part, has now spent years probing Trump’s business dealings. In February, the U.S. Supreme Court granted the Manhattan DA a win by deciding not to overturn a lower court’s order requiring the former president’s accounting firm to surrender his tax records to investigators.
In a statement at the time, Trump slammed the probe as “a fishing expedition” and a “witch hunt” like “what is done in third world countries.”
“This is something which has never happened to a President before, it is all Democrat-inspired in a totally Democrat location, New York City and State, completely controlled and dominated by a heavily reported enemy of mine, Governor Andrew Cuomo,” Trump added, according to Fox News.
The ex-president also promised supporters that he would “fight on, just as I have, for the last five years (even before I was successfully elected), despite all of the election crimes that were committed against me.”
“They have no evidence of a crime”
But Vance is not alone in pursuing Trump. New York Attorney General Letitia James has also launched an investigation into the former president’s business dealings that has since morphed into a criminal probe, as Fox reports.
Stone, for his part, complained in his recent interview that prosecutors are “allowed to root through [Trump’s] business record of 40 years, in which he built a real estate empire second to none, combing for a crime, [when] they have no evidence of a crime, they have no probable cause.”
“It is disgraceful,” Stone added, according to Mediaite.
Responding to his guest’s remarks, Jones opined that he expects charges against Trump, if they materialize, to come “on or around July 4,” a move he said would be designed “to really rub it into our faces.”
It would be “a declaration of their takeover, the Chinese takeover of America,” Jones claimed, according to Mediaite.
