CNN’s Don Lemon faces scrutiny over ‘amazing’ 2007 interview with Louis Farrakhan

CNN’s Don Lemon has a big problem on his hands.

Fox News released a bombshell report Saturday recalling that Lemon once had the “honor” and “pleasure” of conducting what he described as an “amazing” interview with controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

According to Fox, Farrakhan once chanted “death to America” and has even called for a separate state for Black Americans. For such radical beliefs, he has been permanently banned by Facebook.

The Nation of Islam leader is in the news again after a man who described himself as a follower of Farrakhan carried out an attack on U.S. Capitol Police that left one officer dead, Fox noted.

“It was amazing”

The controversial religious leader’s interview with Lemon took place in 2007.

“Thank you again for doing this,” the CNN host said, according to Fox. “It’s an honor and a pleasure to meet you.”

Afterward, Lemon gushed about the experience.

“Oh, it was amazing because he doesn’t let anyone in his home,” he reportedly said. “I mean, it’s rare. And I think — as far as I know, maybe one or two reporters got a chance to do this. We were supposed to do it earlier, but he was so sick that we had to cancel several times. His doctors said he couldn’t do it. But to go into his home, we interviewed his wife. Never happened.”

Lemon added: “We also interviewed his daughter. That never happens. Nine children. So it was amazing.”

Flags at half-mast

As Fox notes, Lemon and several top Democrats who’ve had ties to Farrakhan may soon be facing even more scrutiny as more information is uncovered about the Friday attack at the Capitol. The suspect, 25-year-old Noah Green, described himself as a “follower of Farrakhan” on Facebook, the New York Post reported.

Green rammed a car into a security barrier Friday, killing one Capitol Police officer and severely injuring another in the process. He was shot dead by law enforcement after he got out of the vehicle wielding a knife.

“We know what a difficult time this has been for the Capitol, everyone who works there, and those who protect it,” President Joe Biden said in a statement after the attack that, notably, didn’t mention Farrakhan, according to Breitbart. “As we mourn the loss of yet another courageous Capitol Police officer, I have ordered that the White House flags be lowered to half-mast.”
