Ever since Donald Trump left office, his supporters have lamented his absence from Twitter as Joe Biden stumbles his way through the presidency. But Trump appears to be be stepping up efforts to stay in touch with his loyal base.
The 45th president launched a new website on Tuesday with his wife Melania that allows supporters to contact them, Breitbart reported.
“President and Mrs. Trump are continually strengthened by the enduring spirit of the American people, and they look forward to staying in touch,” Trump said through the office of the 45th President.
Trump site supports “forgotten” Americans
Barred from social media shortly before his presidency ended, Trump has held onto the status of political “outsider” that has endeared him to fans well after leaving office.
His new website highlights his continued support of the “forgotten men and women of America” through his historic America First movement.
“Donald J. Trump launched the most extraordinary political movement in history, dethroning political dynasties, defeating the Washington Establishment, and becoming the first true outsider elected as President of the United States,” the site’s About section says.
The site includes biographies for the couple, and in a “contact us” section, users can send comments to Donald and Melania, request a greeting for birthdays, weddings, and other occasions, or invite them to events in person.
“In an effort to ensure that your requests and comments are received in a timely manner, it is strongly encouraged that you submit all correspondence online. President and Mrs. Trump prefer not to receive letters, gifts, inquiries, and invitations through the mail,” the site states.
Trump not going away
Trump has made it clear that he wants to continue influencing the GOP to hold fast to his “America First” mantra, and he has been increasingly vocal in recent weeks.
The voluble ex-president has kept Americans guessing about his next moves, and amused, with press releases filled with Trumpian ripostes and increasingly frequent, often lengthy Fox News interviews offering sharp criticism of Biden, who he recently compared to “Bernie Sanders on steroids.”
Although no longer in office, he has continued to drive news for a Trump-obsessed media suffering from a decline that he often predicted with relish.
This week, he said he felt compelled to respond to a CNN documentary in which Dr. Anthony Fauci took credit for the coronavirus vaccine and Dr. Deborah Birx claimed the former president had cost lives. Although his foes would no doubt prefer it, it appears Trump has no plans of disappearing anytime soon.
