There are a number of challenges posed to the stars of live television, not the least of which is being in tune with the timing of commercial breaks.
That is a challenge Fox News host Sean Hannity hilariously failed Thursday night when he was caught puffing on an electronic cigarette when his program returned live from a commercial break, the Washington Examiner reported.
The incident occurred at the tail-end of Hannity’s show and led to some humorous banter between him and fellow Fox host Laura Ingraham during the changeover.
“Uh-oh”
When Hannity’s program returned from its final commercial break, the host was seen with his reading glasses on, looking down at papers and a Juul e-cigarette dangling out of his mouth.
Likely informed in an earpiece that he was live on the air, Hannity ripped the e-cig from his mouth and said “uh-oh” prior to launching into a brief monologue about a controversy involving House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) and committee member Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA).
As Hannity signed off and handed the reins to Ingraham, she was seen posing with a water bottle near her mouth like she was about to take a drink. She deadpanned, “Oh, wait, am I on camera right now?”
Hannity laughed and replied, “I’m sure we’ll make the headlines somewhere tomorrow,” while Ingraham said of the mistake, “It happens to the best of us.”
“I mean, those little moments are cute. Those are in the forever reel of the real Hannity. Like, we want to know you,” she added. Hannity noted that he had been caught in public with his e-cig before, which had been highlighted by Barstool Sports, and noted how his son thought it was “cool” but his daughter found it “humiliating.”
Gutfeld’s incident
Hannity ended up laughing off the entire incident and said, “Alright, enjoy it, everybody, at my expense. I have a good sense of humor, I can handle it.”

The Examiner noted that the incident came roughly a week after fellow Fox News personality Greg Gutfeld, co-host of The Five, had been similarly caught not paying attention and was seen singing to himself about having to go to the bathroom during the program’s final segment.
