Judge Jeanine Pirro canceled numerous speaking engagements to promote her book and raise money for conservative groups in September and October, although it’s not clear why.
The cancellations were reported by Media Matters, the activist group that incessantly harasses and continuously tracks Fox News personalities.
Pirro drops numerous events
Pirro was slated to promote her new book, “Radicals, Resistance, and Revenge,” at several events in Florida this week and next week. But a representative for Trump Team 2020 Florida, a pro-Trump organization that coordinated Pirro’s speaking engagements, said that something came up.
“Pirro had to cancel all of her Florida book tour speaking engagements this week & next. We hope to reschedule her and will post when we have a new date set,” said Karyn Morton, a representative for the group.
She added that “unexpected circumstances” prevented her from attending. Pirro was scheduled to speak in Pensacola on September 18, Jacksonville on September 19, The Villages on September 22, and Vero Beach on September 24.
The Fox host has also canceled speaking engagements with the Republican party and a pro-Israel organization. Pirro nixed an appearance at an October 25 fundraiser for the King County Republican Party in Washington state, citing a “scheduling conflict.”
The pundit was also slated to appear at an event at Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. for pro-Israel group Jexit on October 20. The organization did not say why Pirro canceled.
Pirro caught complaining about Fox on hot mic
Pirro is beloved by Trump supporters and Fox fans for her strident support of the president. But the Fox host has had a rocky year owing to a two-week suspension in March and advertiser boycotts that followed in the aftermath. Fox said that they “strongly condemned” Pirro’s remarks about Omar’s wearing of the hijab.
Many Fox viewers wrote in to the network protesting her suspension, and even President Trump weighed in, calling on Fox to back her. But it’s not clear that Pirro has recovered from the scandal. In a hot mic moment on ex-Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka’s radio show, Pirro said that her suspension was “the basis to tee up for anything I do wrong, they fire me.” She also complained that Fox is too controlling of her schedule, calling the network “unbelievable.”
When Gorka suggested that her book would give her more freedom in her schedule, she complained, “No. They’re still saying you cannot do Bill O’Reilly, you cannot do Newsmax, you cannot do — oh no.”
Fox News has had a difficult year in the PR realm, between boycotts targeting Pirro, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham — all promoted by Media Matters, which has long sought to get Fox News anchors fired. Unlike its treatment of Pirro, Fox has never appeared to penalize or rebuke Carlson or Ingraham, despite efforts by the left to get them fired over controversial comments.
Trump has criticized Fox in recent months over a supposed drift towards the left. Pirro, who is a friend of Trump, has attracted criticism from the left and Fox News for appearing at Trump rallies.
