Pence warns Georgia GOP voters: ‘If you don’t vote, they win”

With the belief that the 2020 elections were plagued by ballot fraud and irregularities growing more widespread among Republicans and independents, some have suggested that voting isn’t worth it anymore.

But Vice President Mike Pence pushed back on that futile line of thinking during a rally in Georgia on Friday. Pence implored President Donald Trump’s supporters to reject those suggestions and turn out to vote for Republican Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler no matter what, saying, “If you don’t vote, [Democrats] win.”

The vice president traveled to Savannah, Georgia Friday to not only show support for Perdue and Loeffler ahead of the January run-off but also to counter recent comments from pro-Trump attorneys Lin Wood and Sidney Powell that seemingly discouraged further participation in a questionable election system, the Washington Examiner reported.

“If you don’t vote, they win”

“I know we all have our doubts about the last election. In fact, some people say, ‘Just don’t vote.’ My fellow Americans, if you don’t vote, they win,” Pence said, with “they” being the Democrats in this particular case.

“If you don’t vote, there could be nothing to stop Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi from cutting our military, raising taxes and passing the agenda of the radical left,” the vice president said, according to the New York Post, in reference to the Senate Minority Leader and House Speaker, respectively.

Indeed, should both Perdue and Loeffler lose to the Democratic challengers — Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, respectively — in the January runoff elections, then the Senate would be tied 50-50 and, assuming Democratic nominee Joe Biden and running mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), end up taking office, Harris would be the tie-breaking vote in the Senate for Democrats.

The Post noted that Pence implored the president’s supporters to understand that a vote for Perdue and Loeffler is equivalent to casting another vote for Trump and protecting “all that President Trump has accomplished.”

Allegations of fraud being taken seriously

To be sure, Pence was not flatly dismissing the allegations of fraud and irregularities that have clouded the reported results of the November election. Rather, he sought to reassure President Trump’s supporters that such allegations have been duly noted and are being thoroughly checked out and guarded against.

“We’re on ‘em this time,” the vice president said, according to USA Today. “We’re watching. We’re gonna secure our polls. We’re gonna secure our drop boxes. So get an absentee ballot and vote and vote today.”

“As our election contest continues here in Georgia and in courts across the country, I’ll make you a promise: We’re going to keep fighting until every legal vote is counted, we’re going to keep fighting until every illegal vote is thrown out, and we will never stop fighting to make America great again,” Pence continued, according to the Examiner.

“We’re going to keep Georgia, we’re going to save the Senate, and then, we’re going to save America,” he added.

We can only hope that the efforts of Pence and President Trump to rally supporters on behalf of Sens. Perdue and Loeffler will prevail over the bad advice some are offering for voters to boycott and sit out the crucially important Senate runoff races.
