The undercover journalist who exposed Planned Parenthood as a harvester and seller of aborted baby body parts is now being forced by a judge to cover the abortion giant’s legal costs for the case that it brought against him, Breitbart reported.
California U.S. District Judge William Orrick III ordered David Daleiden to pay Planned Parenthood $13.6 million in legal fees, in addition to the $2 million that he had already been ordered to pay the organization in legal damages.
Daleiden is appealing the decision.
Background
Daleiden, the founder of the pro-life Center for Medical Progress organization, exposed Planned Parenthood as a trafficker of aborted baby parts. In covertly recorded videos, Daleiden caught Planned Parenthood employees discussing how the abortion organization harvests fetal tissue from aborted babies and sells them for profit.
After releasing several videos exposing the organization, Daleiden came under attack from Planned Parenthood and the government of California. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), then the attorney general of California, led the attack against Daleiden, even ordering a raid on his home in 2016.
Daleiden was prosecuted for violating the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. In November 2019, a jury found Daleiden guilty, awarding Planned Parenthood the $2 million.
Planned Parenthood has not faced any repercussions for trafficking aborted baby body parts, and while a federal investigation was launched into the matter in 2017, it is unclear whether that investigation is actually being pursued, Breitbart reported.
This isn’t justice
In an op-ed for Breitbart, Daleiden pointed out the grotesque injustice he is facing because of what he exposed.
“Does anyone doubt that if I had been investigating and publishing undercover video reports on unlicensed gun sales, factory farming, or unsanitary grocery practices, that Harris never would have dreamed of raiding my home?” Daleiden wrote.
Daleiden has accused Harris of having a political motive for targeting him, given her ties to Planned Parenthood.
Orrick, the judge who presided over the case and ordered Daleiden to pay Planned Parenthood’s legal expenses also has ties to the abortion provider.”Orrick’s wife’s Facebook account was found to have included posted public comments — along with a photo of her and her husband — that indicated support for Planned Parenthood and criticism of Daleiden and CMP,” Breitbart reported.
Daleiden also claimed that Orrick even founded a Planned Parenthood clinic in Northern California.
