As election night drew to a close on Tuesday, vote tallies in a number of critical swing states showed President Donald Trump with the lead, after he won both Florida and Ohio.
As a result, Trump made clear in the early hours of Wednesday morning that he believes he is victorious. Trump also warned of bad actors who are attempting to steal the outcome, The Daily Wire reported.
“I want to thank the American people for their tremendous support tonight,” the president said to journalists and supporters who had gathered in the East Room of the White House.
“Millions and millions of people voted for us tonight, and a very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise that group of people, and we won’t stand for it,” he added.
“This is a fraud”
Trump continued, “We were getting ready for a big celebration, we were winning everything, and then all of a sudden it was just called off.”
The president’s remark was in reference to the fact that some states stopped counting ballots when the president seemed to be leading.
The president also took issue with major media networks failing to call states like Georgia and North Carolina in his favor despite his maintenance of a clear lead.
“This is a fraud on the American public,” the president said. “This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election.”
“Going to the U.S. Supreme Court”
