AllahPundit: Fox News blacklisting guests who also appear on Newsmax

After years of being the biggest outlet in conservative media, Fox News is beginning to face some serious competitors, and it appears the cable giant isn’t happy about being challenged.

Anonymous Hot Air writer AllahPundit cited a report from CNN’s Brian Stelter this week stating that Fox News has adopted a policy blacklisting guests who also make appearances on Newsmax, a conservative news outlet.

Blacklisting

Despite warning readers to take any information from CNN “with a grain of salt,” AllahPundit quoted the network personality as reporting that some of Fox News’ producers “have been told to monitor Newsmax’s guest bookings and throw some sand in Newsmax’s gears by encouraging guests who appear on both channels to stop saying yes to the upstart.”

Stelter pointed to “Fox sources” who claimed that producers were instructed “to avoid some regular guests if they kept showing up on Newsmax after being encouraged to stop.”

This move is allegedly part of a strategy “to remind guests who’s boss in the right-wing media world,” according to CNN.

Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy was quoted by CNN as accusing Fox News of engaging in an “anti-competitive violation,” a charge that sources at Fox News were said to have shrugged off.

Fox News has been encountering a backlash from conservative viewers in recent months due a belief that the cable channel has turned its back on President Donald Trump.

Backlash from viewers

Some of those feelings arose after Fox News host Chris Wallace moderated the first debate between the president and former Vice President Joe Biden. While many on the right accused Wallace of showing favoritism toward Biden, Wallace condemned Trump for ruining the evening.

Another source of contention was the network’s decision to call Arizona early for Biden on election night even while voters were still in line at the polls.

Also ruffling feathers was an incident in which host Fox Business host Neil Cavuto cut away from White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany as she attempted to discussed allegations of voter fraud.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Cavuto exclaimed during his Nov. 9 broadcast. “I just think we have to be very clear: she’s charging the other side as welcoming fraud and illegal voting, unless she has more details to back that up, I can’t in good countenance continue to show you this.”

All of that may have left Fox News with reason to be concerned: AllahPundit noted in an earlier piece that Fox’s rating are declining while Newsmax is attracting viewers.
