It looks like not one but two coronavirus vaccines that participated in Trump’s Operation Warp Speed could now be available to Americans before Christmas.
According to Newsmax, Health Secretary Alex Azar revealed Monday on CBS’ “This Morning” that, in addition to Pfizer, Moderna is also likely to have its emergency use authorization request granted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the near future.
“So we could be seeing both of these vaccines out and getting into people’s arms before Christmas,” Azar said.
After the federal government ships the vaccines, Azar said that the state governors “will be determining which groups to be prioritized.” He added that he “would hope that the science and the evidence will be clear enough that our governors will follow the recommendations that we will make to them.”

Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel made a separate appearance on Fox Business where she discussed the progress that Moderna has made toward an effective coronavirus vaccine.
Trials have now shown the Moderna vaccine to be 94.1 percent effective, which is why, according to Bancel, the company is now seeking an emergency use authorization from the FDA.
“So today, indeed, we’re going to be filing to the FDA for emergency use authorization,” Bancel said. “It’s the first time in the company history that we file for commercial approval of a product.”
Bancel went on to discuss what is now likely to follow.
“The FDA has indicated to us that likely the advisory committee, the VRBPAC meeting should happen on December 17, and hopefully, everything goes well in the next couple of weeks, you could expect between, I would say, a day to two to three days after the VRBPAC meeting potential approval — meaning, we able to ship the product, Operation Warp Speed led by [Gustave Perna] has been working on a daily basis very closely with us, and our goal is to start vaccinating Americans within 24 hours after the FDA gives an approval.”
Is it finally over?
In addition to Moderna, Pfizer has also come up with its own effective coronavirus vaccine. The company has already submitted its emergency use authorization request, and the FDA is scheduled to consider it on December 10th.
President Donald Trump has said that he expects vaccines to be delivered within the next two weeks.
Dr. Moncef Slaoui, a top scientist in the Operation Warp Speed initiative, has said that if vaccine distribution proceeds as planned, then life could return to normal here in America by May 2021.
