‘It’s a fraud campaign’: Trump cites fracking as evidence that Biden ‘has no idea what’s happening’

President Donald Trump continues to wage a re-election campaign clearly focused on characterizing Democratic nominee Joe Biden as unfit to hold the position of commander in chief.

Expanding on that narrative, he told a reporter after a recent campaign event that he believes the former vice president is running a fraudulent campaign, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

“Thousands of people along the runway”

The comments came following an event on Thursday evening in Pennsylvania for which several thousand supporters showed up at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe.

“We had thousands of people here, but we had thousands of people along the runway that couldn’t get in,” he told the Examiner. “It’s ridiculous. It’s too bad, because yeah, I hate to see that. They come, and they wait.”

When the interview turned toward the two candidates’ respective energy policies, the president took aim squarely at his general-election rival.

“It’s other people that are writing his scripts”

“It’s a fraud campaign,” Trump asserted, specifically citing Biden’s shifting stance on hydraulic fracturing. “And it’s not him, it is other people that are writing his scripts.”

Criticism over Biden’s stance regarding the controversial method of extracting shale oil — commonly called “fracking” — stems from a March 15 Democratic presidential primary debate promise.

Not only did he vow to prohibit fracking, but he also signaled a willingness to crack down on other forms of energy production.

“He saw what was happening here”

“No more drilling on federal lands,” he said after being asked to explain his climate change policy. “No more drilling, including off-shore. No ability for the oil industry to drill, period.”

Late last month, however, Biden told a voter in Pittsburgh that a ban on fracking is “not banning fracking no matter how many times Donald Trump lies about” the issue.

“He has no idea what’s happening,” Trump concluded. “He was totally against fracking, right? Then all of a sudden, three days ago, he saw what was happening here.”

While fracking is a major issue, many voters are likely to see Biden’s apparent flip-flop as a symptom of a much bigger problem with him as a White House hopeful.
