The recent riots that have devastated America’s streets are the expression of a bizarre new religion, according to Attorney General Bill Barr.
In a candid interview with Fox News personality and radio talk show host Mark Levin, Barr said that “cowardly” Democrats who ignore street violence are motivated by fear of contradicting the members of an ascendant “secular religion.”
“A substitute for religion”
Looking back on the “umbrella of classical liberal values that have undergirded” America since its inception, Barr said that many people on the left have rejected tolerance and reasoned discussion in favor of a utopian “religion” that completely consumes their lives with a lust for political power.
“They’re not interested in compromise,” Barr said, according to Fox News. “They’re not interested in [a] dialectic exchange of views. They’re interested in total victory … It’s a substitute for religion.”
The results of this new “religion” can be seen in America’s streets, where “Bolsheviks” engage in “a new form of urban guerrilla warfare,” and to some extent in the House chamber, where Democratic lawmakers hectored Barr at a ruthless Judiciary Committee hearing last month.
Reacting to the hearing, Barr said that Democrats were “afraid to have me speak” and ran out the clock deliberately. He doubled down on his criticisms of Antifa, the Democratic Party, and the mainstream media, which he accused of ignoring violence instigated by the group.
“You don’t see it on the networks. You don’t see it on the other cable stations. And yet you hear about these peaceful demonstrators. So it’s you know, it’s just it’s a lie. The American people are being told a lie by the media,” Barr said.
“Just cowards”
While there are a few “true believers” in this religious cause on the Democratic side, most are cynical “cowards” and careerists who are just afraid to rock the boat, Barr said.
“But many of them are just cowards and are afraid from, you know, about a challenge from the left. So for them, it’s careerism,” he added.
The attorney general also expressed sympathy for President Donald Trump, who he said was the victim of a political conspiracy from “day one” of his presidency by frustrated devotees of this revolutionary cult.
“They were trying to impeach him from Day One. They have done everything they can..and I think it’s because of the desire for power that the left wants,” the attorney general opined.
Bill Barr doesn’t mince words, that’s for sure.
