Mark Levin calls on Barr to investigate ex-NSC staffers: ‘It was a rat’s nest’

Recent reports have indicated that the now-infamous “whistleblower” whose complaint about President Donald Trump prompted the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry was an Obama staffer who temporarily served on Trump’s National Security Council — and that two members of House Intelligence panel Chairman Adam Schiff’s (D-CA) staff were in similar positions.

Now, the Washingon Examiner reports that author and conservative commentator Mark Levin is calling on Attorney General William Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham to open an investigation into those three former staffers at the “rat’s nest” — that is, the National Security Council (NSC).

“We have found the rat’s nest”

Levin’s commentary came during a recent appearance with Fox’s Sean Hannity, where Levin said that they’ve found “the rat’s nest” in Trump’s administration.

“We have found the rat’s nest. It’s in the National Security Council,” Levin said, according to Breitbart.

He went on:

The whistleblower, according to a number of reports, comes off the National Security Council. An Obama holdover. A Democrat. Somebody who worked with [former Vice President Joe] Biden. Somebody who worked with [former CIA Director John] Brennan. An Obama holdover who didn’t like Trump, who met with one of the active figures in the Ukraine effort to undermine the president of the United States in 2016.

And the whistleblower is not the only one. “We have two others who now were hired by Schiff, Obama holdovers who were in the Trump National Security Council,” Levin said. “Now they work for Schiff, and how much you [want to] bet that one of them was the one that [the whistleblower] colluded with? And of course, Schiff doesn’t know anything about it.”

This, according to Levin, explains why Trump has had such trouble infiltrating what Hannity has so often called the “Deep State.”

“You want to know why the president of the United States has had trouble bringing his own people into the National Security Council, and getting clearances? Now you know why. Because it was a rat’s nest,” Levin asserted.

“Were they leakers?”

For this reason, Levin thinks “U.S. Attorney Durham and the attorney general of the United States ought to have an investigation of these three National Security Council former staffers,” he told Hannity.

“What role, if any, did they have in the Ukraine 2016 matter interfering with the election? What role did they have pushing the Russia collusion matter? Were they leakers?” Levin added. “I think the criminal investigation — the hell with Schiff — they ought to get into these three and find out exactly what they did, and there may be more of them.”

Take a look at Levin’s talk with Hannity, courtesy of the Washington Examiner:

For his part, Levin raised some valid concerns about these three ex-NSC staffers and the roles they may have played in what increasingly appears to be a “Deep State” coup against President Trump.

Barr and Durham should heed Levin’s advice and spend some time digging into those in the “rat’s nest.” There’s no telling what they’ll find.
