An unidentified North Carolina high school teacher is now being investigated by the Secret Service for allegedly telling a classroom of students that Vice President Mike Pence should be “shot in the head,” Fox News reported. The teacher has also been placed on leave from her job.
The remarks were allegedly made at Cuthbertson High School in Waxhaw, North Carolina the same week Pence visited the area to campaign for Dan Bishop, who was narrowly elected in a special election just days later.
When it was reported to them, the Union County Sheriff’s Office reported the alleged incident to the U.S. Secret Service, which then began to investigate.
“You should not be bringing in those type of viewpoints to your job,” Union County GOP Chair Allison Powers said. “To just wish that kind of violence on anybody is just way out of bounds.”

A parent to two students at Cuthbertson, Firas Obeid, said he didn’t support Pence but didn’t agree with statements that advocated harming any politician regardless of their affiliation.
“This is the vice president of the United States. He’s an elected official,” Obeid told a local Fox affiliate. “Affiliation to a specific party does not entitle us to make a statement like that to anyone.”
The last-minute visits of both Pence and President Donald Trump were credited with helping Bishop to get out the rural vote in the district and defeat his opponent, Democrat Dan McCready, in an election that got national attention.
It was thought that a win for Democrats would mean trouble for Trump in 2020. Bishop was elected by two points, however.
Trouble in Suburbia
Despite Bishop’s win, Democrats continue to suggest that the suburbs are moving away from Trump. Polls have shown that most of the top Democrat candidates would beat Trump if the election were held today, but early polls have always skewed far left.
In addition, Trump’s rallies have been standing room only, suggesting that his support is stronger than what shows up in a poll. GOP and Trump fundraising has also been setting records in recent months.
At this point, many things can happen in the 14 months left until the election. God only knows what October surprises may be out there.
But I’d say Trump’s chances are better than they look right now.
