Hillary Clinton’s longtime best friend dies at age 73

June of this year saw the death of Tony Rodham, the 64-year-old younger brother of Hillary Clinton. But that wasn’t the only tragic death to hit the former first lady this year.

On Sunday, the ex-secretary of State’s longtime best friend, Betsy Ebeling, died of breast cancer, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. She was 73.

A sudden, tragic death

Although Ebeling had fought the disease for “some time,” a source who claimed to know both her and Clinton told People magazine that Ebeling’s death over the weekend “was still pretty sudden.”

The 73-year-old had a long history with Clinton that dated back to elementary school, according to the Chicago Tribune. In an interview with Frontline, Ebeling described the Rodham family as providing a “second home” for her.

Like Clinton, Ebeling was a Republican in her adolescent years but later switched parties and pursued Democratic politics. That included working on multiple campaigns and casting Illinois’ votes at the 2016 Democratic National Convention (DNC).

Ebeling appeared in a Democrat campaign video that same year.

“Honest” Hillary?

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Ebeling described her friend Hillary as “loyal, caring, and honest” while contending that Republican critiques of her were unfounded. Of course, many — including Juanita Broaddrick — would disagree with that assessment.

Broaddrick alleges that she was raped by then-Arkansas Attorney General Bill Clinton and that his wife Hillary later intimidated her into remaining silent about it. Broaddrick recounted the experience in 2016 during an emotional interview with Breitbart in which she described a horrifying scene.

“And then as he points over my shoulder, he grabs me and turns me to him. And that was a shock. And I tried to push him away. And I only weighed about 120 pounds at that time. He was a very large man. And I kept telling him, ‘No. I don’t want this at all,'” Broaddrick recounted.

Broaddrick went on to say the assault was “very vicious. I was just pinned down… I did not know what to do. I was so frightened. I was only 35 at the time. And it was horrible. I just wanted it to be over with. So he would go away,” she said.

Indeed, while Ebeling waxed about her friend’s “commitment to doing good” and love for “hardworking women” to the media, at least one woman came away from her encounters with the Clinton family with a very different impression.

And with the alleged sex crimes of Clinton associate Jeffrey Epstein now coming to light, only time will tell what else will come out about the Democrat power couple in the near future.
