Ilhan Omar (D-MN) wants to get Tucker Carlson’s show cancelled after the Fox host accused her of despising America. The infamously anti-Semitic Democrat labeled Carlson a racist and called for an advertiser boycott of his show on Wednesday.
“Fox News is now giving a nightly platform to white supremacist rhetoric. It’s dangerous. Advertisers should not be underwriting hate speech,” Omar tweeted.
Omar’s threat came after Carlson singled her out as “living proof” that America’s immigration system needs to be reformed Tuesday night. The Fox host said that Omar, a refugee from Somalia, is ungrateful to the country that took her in and that Americans should be alarmed when migrants show contempt for the United States.
Here we go again
Carlson has been the target of numerous left-wing advertiser boycotts, mainly for his provocative commentary on immigration. The Fox host flew a little too close to the sun Tuesday night when he attacked the left’s favorite open borders zealot, saying that Americans should be “grateful for Ilhan Omar” because she is proof that America’s immigration system needs to be changed.
Americans no longer demand that their migrants assimilate to the United States, Tucker said, and the result is immigrants like Omar, who are “enraged” by America rather than grateful. Carlson pointed to a Washington Post piece in which Omar complained that America had “failed” to live up to its founding principles.
The Fox host warned that no country can accept large numbers of people, who, like Omar, have “undisguised contempt for America and its people” and assume it will continue to thrive.
“No country can import large numbers of people who hate it and expect to survive. The Romans were the last to try that with predictable results. So be grateful for Ilhan Omar, annoying as she is. She’s a living fire alarm, a warning to the rest of us,” Carlson said.
Instead of responding to Carlson’s points, Omar responded by calling Carlson a “racist fool” and siccing the leftist attack dogs on him. Left wing activist groups like Media Matters and Sleep Giants clapped in agreement that the congresswoman who once said that America was “founded on genocide” is blameless, while the “racist” Tucker needs to get his show cancelled for saying mean things. The very serious liberal pundit class came to Omar’s defense as well, with one columnist tut-tutting: “Tucker Carlson has failed to assimilate.”
“Not gonna lie, it’s kinda fun watching a racist fool like this weeping about my presence in Congress. No lies will stamp out my love for this country or my resolve to make our union more perfect. They will just have to get used to calling me Congresswoman!” Omar tweeted.
Carlson holds firm
The leftists who tried to take Tucker down obviously didn’t realize with whom they are dealing. The Fox host held firm amid a Media Matters-instigated campaign to take down his show earlier this year. On Wednesday night, Carlson again refused to apologize and accused Omar and her leftist allies of attempting to shut him down by accusing him of racism instead of responding to his point.
“They didn’t rebut our points, or even acknowledge them. They just tried to silence us. That’s how they operate. And of course they called us racist. On one level, that’s amusing, given how absurd the charge is,” Carlson said. “Racist? No. We’re against racism, adamantly. Omar consistently puts her own race at the center of the conversation, but to us it’s irrelevant,” Carlson continued.
Omar, Carlson said, learned that “crying racism pays” and said that the left’s constant grievance mongering is all a “hustle.” The Fox host held up Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somalian refugee and critic of Islamism, as an example of a good migrant who loves the United States.
“Omar has made a career of denouncing anyone and anything in her way as racist. That would include virtually all of her political and personal opponents. It includes even inanimate objects like the border wall, that’s racist.”
But the real problems lies with the left, Carlson said, for encouraging “grievance mongers” like Omar: “Now, it’s routine to hear Democratic presidential candidates question the basic legitimacy of the United States.”
Carlson is right. The left was just looking for an opportunity to attack him. Why are they so afraid of a TV host? Is it because he speaks the truth?
