Joy Behar, co-host of ABC’s The View, is a consummate race baiter. While her favorite target for unwarranted accusations of bigotry is President Donald Trump, the 76-year-old actress and comedian also believes that Republican radio host Rush Limbaugh, conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, and even 42 percent of all Americans are racist.
But Behar’s utter hypocrisy was on full display in 2016, when she shamelessly shared a dated photo of herself wearing “darker” makeup and dressed as a “beautiful African woman” in a Halloween costume that has been criticized as “blackface lite.”
“I was so cute,” Behar observed at the time.
So disgusting
The Wrap media editor Jon Levine resurrected the cringe-worthy clip and shared it on Twitter. “The show even ran an image of the old photo,” he noted.

“Joy, are you black?” co-host Raven-Symone joked after the picture was enlarged on the studio’s massive monitor. “Joy – are you my auntie, Joy?” she continued roasting her colleague. “Did you have tanning lotion on, Joy?”
In response, Behar admitted that she used makeup “that was a little bit darker than my skin.”
Racist resurrection
Behar’s costume has resurfaced during a moment of political turmoil in the U.S. regarding the offensive practice of wearing blackface, which ranges from subtle but inconsiderate Halloween costumes to the overtly racist minstrel-show style caricatures.
In Virginia, Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam became embroiled in a career-ending controversy last week when his 1984 medical school yearbook photo emerged, allegedly showing the recently-elected lawmaker in either a blackface costume or full KKK regalia.
In a shocking development, Democratic Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring, who is second in line to take over Northam’s governorship if he resigns, released a statement Wednesday saying that he also wore blackface in college.
Meanwhile, Florida Secretary of State Michael Ertel, a Republican, resigned last month after blackface photos emerged showing him wearing a “Katrina victim” t-shirt. Conversely, Rep. Anthony Sabatini of Florida’s 32nd House district has so far rejected demands that he give up his seat because he and a black high school friend applied makeup to mimic one another some 14 years ago.
Double standard
Behar, however, couldn’t be bothered to address the controversy during the latest episode of The View, and ABC hasn’t responded to requests for comment from Fox News. Still, some observers couldn’t help but notice that NBC anchor Megyn Kelly was unceremoniously fired for merely talking about blackface, while progressive race-hucksters like Behar are given a free pass.
“Just a reminder that Megyn Kelly was fired for saying that blackface was acceptable when she was a kid (and not actually *participating* in blackface like all of these people),” New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz tweeted.
