Americans are now being forced to decide which Pelosi to believe.
On the one hand, there’s California Democrat Nancy Pelosi, who for some time has seemed to have a vendetta against President Donald Trump that goes deeper than policy or political differences.
Americans had the opportunity to see the speaker’s disrespectful behavior for themselves when the president finally gave his second State of the Union address Tuesday after it had been effectively postponed by the speaker of the House, who refused to host the president in the House chamber during the government shutdown.
One of the speaker’s more disrespectful moments Tuesday evening even spawned several memes, when Pelosi gave Trump a patronizing clap, ironically after the president called for civility in public discourse.
“(W)e must reject the politics of revenge, resistance and retribution and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise and the common good,” Trump said.
Pelosi’s “applause,” especially when combined with her facial expression, appeared to reject Trump’s call for cooperation and compromise:

If there was any doubt that the speaker’s clapping was intentionally rude, a tweet from another Pelosi, daughter Christine, put that to rest.
“(T)hat clap took me back to the teen years. She knows. And she knows that you know. And frankly she’s disappointed that you thought this would work. But here’s a clap,” she tweeted Wednesday morning, adding the hashtag, “#youtriedit.”

Unsurprisingly, Pelosi denied that her clapping was disingenuous.
“It wasn’t sarcastic,” she told reporters Wednesday, according to People. “Look at what I was applauding. I wanted him to know that it was very welcomed.”
Make of that what you will. We’ll just note that while it’s impossible to read Pelosi’s mind, her daughter can probably come as close as anyone.
It’s up to Americans to decide which Pelosi they believe.
