‘Preemptive strike:’ NYC mayor announces vax mandate for all private sector employees

One would think that Democrats, by now, would understand the political ramifications of continuing to overreach on ridiculous COVID-19 vaccination mandates.

Maybe it’s because he’s on his way out and wants to make a splash, but according to Fox News, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday ordered a new vaccination mandate that will include all private-sector workers in America’s largest city.

The radically progressive mayor, who failed in his bid to run for president in 2020, called his order a “preemptive strike” against COVID-19, citing the emergence of the otherwise tame omicron variant.

De Blasio’s new vax mandate cutoff date is Dec. 27, right around the same time that his term as the city’s mayor will end, and Mayor-elect Eric Adams will take over.

His justification

Aside from the fact that his mandate will place yet another unnecessary burden on over 100,000 businesses in the area that are just beginning to recover from his previous harsh and restrictive pandemic lockdowns, de Blasio explained why he’s taking such a radical course at this point.

“We in NYC have decided to use a preemptive strike to really do something bold to stop the further growth of COVID,” the mayor said.

He added: “We’ve got omicron as a new factor, we’ve got the colder weather, which is going to really create additional challenges with the delta variant, we’ve got holiday gatherings.”

De Blasio went on to brag about the new mandate, which he proudly labeled as a “first in the nation measure.”

It gets worse

Aside from “focus on maximizing vaccinations quickly” in preparation for the — so far — completely over-hyped omicron variant, de Blasio also announced that the city will expand its “key to the city” program, which is a nice way of describing his COVID-19 vaccine passport program.

As a result of the expansion to his Nazi-like “show us your papers” program, it will now include 5- to 11-year-olds. In other words, in order to grab a Happy Meal for one’s child, the entire family will have to brandish appropriate paperwork.

His draconian announcements also come at a peculiar time, as President Joe Biden’s federal vaccination mandates are taking losses across the country in various federal courts. It’s not unreasonable to believe that de Blasio will face equal legal scrutiny over his new authoritarian plans for NYC residents.

Adams, the incoming mayor, will formally assume his position on Jan. 1, and it appears as if de Blasio is leaving him a gigantic legal mess to handle.
