This week, Americans were treated to a bizarre video showing Vice President Kamala Harris attempting to adopt a French accent while speaking at a Paris laboratory, the Washington Examiner reports.
While some might be wondering if Harris is losing her marbles, one former high-ranking official says the implications are much scarier.

According to the Examiner, the footage was taken during her visit to the Pasteur Institute on Wednesday. “We campaign with the plan … the plan,” Harris said as she raised her arms. “The environment is such that we are expected to defend the plan.”
Not her first fake?
“Even when the first time we roll it out, there may be some glitches, and it’s time to reevaluate and then do it again,” the vice president insisted.
Although Harris spent considerable time growing up in Montreal, Canada, there is no evidence that she has ever spoken publicly with a French accent.
Still, the vice president does have a history of changing her accent depending on the circumstances, like so many Democrats tend to do. During last year’s election campaign, Fox News host Tucker Carlson mocked Harris for using a southern accent at events in Florida and Georgia.
“Turns out, she’s a proud, lifelong resident of the Deep South here in the United States,” Carlson said at the time of Harris’ fake attempt to sound like a southerner.
Pompeo: It’s “weakness”
However, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said recently that the vice president’s strange performance goes to the deeper issue of other foreign powers not taking the Biden administration seriously.
“The clip from Vice President Harris is just — it’s more than embarrassing on the world stage,” Pompeo told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday.
“Our adversaries watch that and see weakness,” Pompeo continued, insisting that many of America’s rivals look at the current administration and “see people who aren’t determined.”
“It feels a lot more like the Carter administration in terms of how they view America as a danger to the world and apologize everywhere they go,” the former secretary of state went on to contend.
