‘The View’ co-host Whoopi Goldberg describes Rittenhouse as murderer

Plenty of politicians and pundits are clearly upset over the verdict in the recently concluded trial of Kyle Rittenhouse.

Despite the jury’s decision to acquit him of charges related to a shooting last year at a violent protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, one co-host of ABC’s The View nevertheless used her platform to describe Rittenhouse as a murderer.

“He saw someone get shot”

The trial presented video evidence and testimony that appeared to bolster the defendant’s claim that he shot three individuals, killing two of them, as an act of self-defense.

For Whoopi Goldberg, however, that evidence was apparently not enough to convince her of Rittenhouse’s innocence.

Specifically, she asserted that one of the men who attacked Rittenhouse before getting shot by the then-17-year-old “thought he was doing the right thing” in light of the chaos of that situation.

“He saw someone get shot,” Goldberg declared. “He thought he was doing the right thing. So, even all the excuses in the world does not change the fact that three people got shot.”

She went on to opine that two individuals “were murdered” by Rittenhouse.

“We should change the law”

While the trial was still underway, Joy Behar, another co-host of The View, joined a chorus of critics who mocked the defendant’s tearful testimony.

The apparent bitterness over the jury’s decision has extended to other popular programs, including NBC’s Saturday Night Live. That sketch comedy series devoted its opening segment last week to depicting the judge as having rigged the trial in Rittenhouse’s favor.

For his part, late-night host Stephen Colbert declared that “we should change the law” in light of evidence that Rittenhouse acted in accordance with Wisconsin’s self-defense protections.

Some of these critics seem to be taking their cues from progressive politicians including President Joe Biden, who has affirmed that he is “angry” about the verdict and has declined to apologize for earlier describing Rittenhouse as a “white supremacist.”

Following the high-profile trial, Rittenhouse has expressed a desire to settle into a quiet life, as he explained in his first post-verdict interview. Addressing those who cannot accept the verdict, he told Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson that “a lot of people on the left” seem to believe “it’s criminal to want to protect your community.”
