Psaki forced to defend Biden’s tweet linking Rittenhouse to white supremacy

Although a jury voted to acquit Kyle Rittenhouse of charges related to a shooting last year at a violent protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, plenty of his critics continue to advance a biased narrative.

More than a year after then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden shared a video linking Rittenhouse to white supremacy, the White House still refuses to retract that statement.

“Tragic consequences”

Fox News Channel’s Peter Doocy asked White House press secretary Jen Psaki if the president would apologize, but she made it clear that it is not going to happen.

“This is about a campaign video released last year that used President Trump’s own words during a debate as he refused to condemn white supremacists and militia groups,” she said.

Psaki went on to chastise former President Donald Trump, asserting that he “didn’t just refuse to condemn militia groups on the debate stage, he encouraged them throughout his presidency.”

She then linked Trump’s supposed agenda with “the tragic consequences” involving citizens who “think it’s OK to take the law into their own hands instead of allowing law enforcement to do its job.”

“Part of a militia”

Rittenhouse was found not guilty of all charges last week to conclude a high-profile trial. As for his inclusion in the campaign video, Pskai insisted that Biden’s intention was to demonstrate his belief “in condemning hatred, division, and violence.”

Of course, that was not the only time Biden had opined about Rittenhouse in public.

“I don’t know enough to whether that 17-year-old kid, exactly what he did,” Biden said in an interview. “Admittedly he’s part of a militia coming out of the state of Illinois.”

He then used the opportunity to jab Trump, asking: “Have you ever heard the president say one negative thing about white supremacists? Have you ever heard it?”

Doocy went on to bring up Rittenhouse’s post-verdict remarks seeming to accuse Biden of defamation, prompting Psaki to respond: “The president spoke to the verdict last week. He has obviously condemned the hatred and division and violence we’ve seen around the country by groups like the Proud Boys and groups that that individual has posted photos with.”
