To hear the White House tell it, President Joe Biden passed his first physical since taking office with flying colors. But if you read between the carefully scripted lines, you will see that Biden’s doctor carefully avoided administering him a cognitive exam — and that’s not the only trouble.
In a Saturday report, The Daily Wire also highlighted two new items of interest that appeared on physician Kevin C. O’Connor’s report on Biden’s health: an “increased frequency and severity of ‘throat clearing’ and coughing during speaking engagements” and a noticeably “stiffer and less fluid” gait.
According to The Daily Wire, Dr. O’Connor, D.O., conducted the physical exam and consulted with specialists in areas including optometry, dentistry, orthopedics, and gastroenterology. The exam was conducted at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
At the end of it all, O’Connor’s conclusion was that Biden “remains fit for duty, and fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations.”
New symptoms
But Biden does have several health conditions, including non-valvular atrial fibrillation, hyperlipidemia, gastroesophageal reflux, seasonal allergies, and mild sensory peripheral neuropathy of feet, the doctor noted, according to The Daily Wire.
As for the “throat clearing,” O’Connor said Biden had “exhibited such symptoms for as long as I have known him, but they certainly seem to be more frequent and more pronounced over the last few months.”
“It is acknowledged that this perception may be artificially confounded by the undeniable fact that, as President, a much greater attention is directed toward his public engagements as compared to that which he experienced in previous positions,” the doctor added, according to The Daily Wire. “Nevertheless, this symptom is clearly present, and warranted detailed investigation.”
“Perceptibly stiffer”
O’Connor said he also embarked on a “detailed investigation” into “the President’s ambulatory gait,” which he described as “perceptibly stiffer and less fluid than it was a year or so ago.”
“He has several reasonable explanations for this in his orthopedic history,” O’Connor said, “but again, a detailed investigation was appropriate.”
What apparently did not get a detailed investigation was Biden’s cognitive health, according to CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta.
“President [Donald] Trump had something known as the Montreal cognitive assessment,” Gupta said Friday, according to The Daily Wire. “It’s sort of a screening test for dementia. […] There was no mention of that sort of thing here.”
You would think that if the White House wanted to put a stop to all the scrutiny surrounding Biden’s fitness for office, it would be eager to see Biden get a cognitive assessment, just like Trump did while he was in office. What is the West Wing trying to hide?
