Most Americans who work for a living have experienced a sharp uptick in the cost of everything from gasoline to common, everyday food items and essential needs.
According to the Washington Examiner, the same pain is still being felt as the holiday season quickly approaches, and recent polls indicate that a majority of Americans blame President Joe Biden and his administration for the supply chain problem that has contributed to the rise in prices.
In a Morning Consult and Politico poll released just one day before Thanksgiving, the numbers were telling. Sixty-two percent of Americans place the blame on Biden for the supply chain crisis, and a whopping 61% blame Congress for the problem.
More blame
Interestingly, there were others to blame for the current issues, according to the survey’s results.
Some 64% of respondents blamed China for the supply chain crisis, and 63% placed the blame on large corporations. A staggering 79% of those included in the survey blamed the COVID-19 pandemic as a whole for the national disruption.
Back to the blaming Biden section of the poll, respondents were asked to what degree they feel the president is responsible. Thirty-eight percent of survey-takers said Biden is “very responsible” for the supply chain crisis.
Twenty-four percent felt that Biden is “somewhat responsible” for the issue, and 15% indicated that they felt Biden has very little responsibility. Another 12% indicated that they believe Biden bears zero responsibility for the ongoing problem.
The supply chain crisis has not only disrupted American commerce but has also contributed to the embarrassingly low polling numbers that Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are currently experiencing.
Governors step in
Given how long Biden’s supply chain crisis has lasted and the long-lasting impact it seems to have, several governors, including South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R), has already made moves to help ease the bottlenecks that are holding up common goods from getting to store shelves.
According to The State, McMaster has relaxed a number of rules that apply to the trucking industry, such as increasing the amount of weight certain trailers can hold.
McMaster’s executive order “also waives or suspends application or enforcement of certain state and federal regulations pertaining to registration, permitting and hours of service for commercial vehicles,” The State noted.
While it’s great to see Republican governors taking initiatives, it’s still up to the Biden administration to correct the issue, and they can quickly do that if the administration wasn’t worried so much about upsetting the radical progressives of the Democratic Party.
