Cruz, Paul blast Fauci after NIAID chief says attacking him is ‘really attacking science’

Dr. Anthony Fauci hit the Sunday morning talk shows this week to share his latest capricious edicts and dismiss his critics as enemies of “science.”

According to the New York Post, Republican Sens. Rand Paul (KY) and Ted Cruz (TX) called out Fauci’s “alarming” and “authoritarian” comments after the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) chief suggested they should be prosecuted in a CBS interview.

“What happened on January 6th?”

Many would say that Fauci has done plenty to undermine public trust in science, but the powerful bureaucrat portrayed himself on Sunday to Margaret Brennan as a benevolent victim of “misinformation” who just wants to save lives.

Doing his best Louis XIV impression, Fauci said that it is “dangerous” for people to question him because he “represents” science.

“And if you’re attacking me, you’re really attacking science. I mean, everybody knows that,” he said, according to a transcript from CBS News.

Although a recent poll found that most Americans want to see Fauci resign, the smug bureaucrat dismissed criticism of him as “noise” and suggested that Republicans like Cruz should be locked up over their actions in relation to the riot on Capitol Hill last January.

“I have to laugh at that,” Fauci told Brennan, according to CBS. “I should be prosecuted? What happened on January 6th, Senator?”

“An unelected technocrat”

Cruz, for his part, responded to Fauci by again calling for the “authoritarian” to be prosecuted for lying to Congress about controversial “gain of function” research in China, which the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has publicly acknowledged funding, despite Fauci’s vehement denials.

“Fauci is an unelected technocrat who has distorted science and facts in order to exercise authoritarian control over millions of Americans,” Cruz tweeted, according to the New York Post.

Sen. Paul, who has also called on Fauci to be prosecuted, called out Fauci’s “alarming” comments and noted that the doctor, despite his grandiose assertion of authority, has ignored the science of natural immunity in favor of compulsory vaccination.

“The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science,” Paul wrote in a tweet of his own, as the Post reported. “It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity.”

Why is an unelected bureaucrat calling for chosen representatives of the American people to be jailed? If anyone belongs in a cell, it’s Fauci. This tyrant can’t be removed from power soon enough.
