The Washington Times reports that the U.S. Senate just confirmed Tracy Stone-Manning, President Joe Biden’s controversial nominee to lead the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
The final vote was 50 to 45 with no Senate Republicans voting for Stone-Manning. This makes Stone-Manning’s one of the most controversial confirmations of Biden’s presidency thus far.

Background
Stone-Manning’s confirmation stalled during the summer after a series of trouble revelations from her past. The first big one was her involvement in an ecoterrorism plot.
Stone-Manning, when she was still at the University of Montana, mailed a letter to the U.S. Forest Service indicating that the trees in Idaho’s Clearwater National Forest, which were set to be harvested, were spiked. Stone-Manning escaped jail time by agreeing to testify against the group’s leader, John P. Blount.
Stone-Manning has tried to claim the role of the good guy here, saying that she mailed the letter in order to prevent people from getting hurt. But, this has been called into question by a number of facts.
For one thing, Stone-Manning didn’t admit to her role in the plot until basically she and her friends were caught. And, for another, she openly mocked the federal authorities for not being able to solve the crime.
On top of this, Blount has revealed that Stone-Manning knew about the tree spiking plot well in advance and that she agreed to mail the letter even before the trees were spiked. Additionally, the lead investigator has further revealed that Manning did not cooperate with his investigation and that she didn’t even testify truthfully to the jury. He even referred to her as nasty, “vulgar, antagonistic, and extremely anti-government.”

On top of the tree spiking incident, it has also been revealed that Stone-Manning was at one point the editor of “Earth First!,” an extremist journal that has earned the praise of the Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski. That’s the platform from which she mocked the investigators of the tree spiking incident.
Stone-Manning also wrote a highly controversial master’s thesis in which she argued for population control. It even included an advertisement which asked, “can you find the environmental hazard in this photo?” The photo included a child with a red circle around it.
Stone-Manning, according to reports, seems to have tried to hide the thesis by asking the University of Montana, in June 2020, to restrict access to it.
One would think that any one of these things would be enough to disqualify someone from a position in the U.S. government. But, this is the woman that Biden and the Democrat-led U.S. Senate now has leading the Bureau of Land Management.
